George Dupuis

George Dupuis was born April 17, 1921 in Notre-Dame-des-Bois a municipality in rural Quebec.  Born into a large farming family, he left school after third grade to work on the family farm to help support his family. As George became a teenager, he sought work along with his older brother in the mills in northern Maine.  He emigrated to the United States and worked in the logging mills of Maine, along with his wife Claire, who worked in the kitchen at the mill.

As time progressed George left work at the mills and ventured further south to Albany, New York where he worked for the state dept. of transportation helping build the NYS thruway.   Settling in Albany with his wife and three children, George started his own business laying sheet rock.  As a businessman, George started attend the Full Gospel Businessman’s breakfast where he strengthened his Christian faith.  His quiet faith would eventually inspire his son-in-law (my father-in-law) to the medical field, where as a doctor he would travel to the remotest part of the world giving medical care to the poorest parts of the world and continues with a low cost medical clinic in Albany, NY.

Not long after I met my wife, I met her Pepere, George Dupuis, who remains one of the most amazing people I have ever met. George passed away on June 3rd, 2006, having lived a good life. His quiet faith, and kind demeanor was evident to anyone who met him.  His memory remains an inspiration for me.
