Cookie Davis grew up in Cape Porpoise, Maine in the second half of the 20th century. After laboring in the local fishing industry, Cookie eventually found calling in painting – murals on fish shacks, oil on board, landscapes on lobster tanks, and anything else in between. Around this time, Cookie also recognized her true self as female – and transitioned from Coleman Davis to Dominique London. Her larger than life personality is remembered by generations of southern Maine inhabitants and her memory as a trailblazer is celebrated through this artwork catalogue, produced in conjunction with the first-ever museum exhibition of Cookie’s artwork at the Brick Store Museum in Kennebunk, Maine.
