We hope you are inspired by your visit to the Museum. Come back again—there is always something new at the Brick Store Museum!
The Learning Gallery
The Learning Gallery at the Brick Store Museum can be found at the rear of the 1825 Brick Store itself. It offers a wheelchair and stroller-friendly access door and welcomes visitors of all ages to take time to explore and visit.
The Learning Gallery is a place where young visitors (and their families) can actively engage with exhibits and explore new ideas in a hands-on, interactive way. Museum visits foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. A hands-on, playful approach makes complex subjects like history, art, or science more accessible and relatable.
Early positive experiences in museums spark lifelong interest in learning, exploration, and cultural enrichment. By making learning fun, the Learning Gallery seeks to help children develop a love for museums and the world around them.

Shelf Activities
Montessori-style shelf activities rotate to offer children their choice of art, craft and imaginative play.

More to Explore
The Museum’s Diorama of Camp Disaster has been a popular stop for young visitors for decades. Installed at a low height, every visitor is welcome to take part in the diorama’s “Search & Find” game and enjoy the three-dimensional narrative of life in Northern Maine in the 18th century.
Each Tuesday, our Demonstration Station showcases basketmaking and origami from 10am – 3pm. The summer season offers monthly story times and activities and visiting artists who demonstrate their crafts to gallery visitors. Dates can be found on our Calendar.
Rotating exhibitions typically feature hands-on activities and scavenger hunts in the galleries so that sensory learners of any age can explore what they see.
