Field Trips

Self-Guided Tour

Grades: K – 12

Students are welcome to explore the Museum and focus on what is most meaningful to them. Please allow for one chaperone per 6 children.

What Does a Museum Do?

Grades: 2 – 4

Students explore the Museum and its Collections Storage vaults to learn more about what museums mean to the community. Museum staff and volunteers then take the students on a scavenger hunt in the galleries.

Shipbuilding in the Kennebunks

Grade: 4

Local history curriculum highlights shipbuilding and commerce in the Kennebunks in the 19th Century. The program begins with a seated presentation in the Program Center. Students then take part in hands-on activities including viewing museum artifacts, and sailor tasks such as Swabbing the Decks and Hoisting the Sail.

The Industrial Revolution in Kennebunk

Grade: 5

Students focus on the commercial history of Kennebunk’s Main Street! Staff begins the program with a presentation on historic locations and processes of industry in Kennebunk. Students then complete a walking tour and scavenger hunt on Main Street, Kennebunk, which still has remnants of its industrial past.

Investigating Primary Sources

Grades: K – 12

Talk with a Museum Educator to plan a curriculum-based field trip for students to explore primary sources and artifacts from local, state and national history.

Southern Maine Archaeology

Grades: K – 12

Talk with a Museum Educator to plan a curriculum-based field trip for students to explore local archaeology processes with the Cape Porpoise Archaeological Alliance, within its offices at the Brick Store Museum.

Group Tours

For adult groups planning a visit to the Museum. Make sure to learn more about what exhibitions are open during your visit, and what programs are planned.

Group Visit Guidelines

  • Group admission rate (20% off tickets) applies to parties of 5 or more. Museum Members leading groups receive 25% off.
  • Please schedule group visits at least two weeks in advance. 
  • To schedule a group tour, please email info@brickstoremuseum.org with the following information: date of requested visit; contact person for your group; and any program requests you may have.

Self Guided Tour, $5 p/p

After a Welcome Introduction by Museum staff, explore the Museum’s seven galleries at your own pace, and focus on what interests you and your group!

Guided Gallery Tour, $8 p/p

Tour includes introduction to the Museum by a staff member, a guided overview of each exhibition, and time for Q&A, in addition to exploring the galleries at your own pace.

Behind-the-Scenes Tour, $15 p/p

Includes the above and a staff-led tour of Collections Storage, which holds nearly 55,000 items of the Kennebunks’ history.
