Miriam Covell
Miriam (1909 – 2007) was my mentor, idol, friend and grandmother. I respected everything about her, including her straight forward and steady manner. I loved to be in her presence and many times threatened to runaway to Grammie’s. She was a nurse, a teacher, twin sister, gardener, steadfast parishioner and organist as well as mother and grandmother. She loved to play cards, Racko, Croquet and Dominos. All of her grandchildren spent many hours with her doing just that. I was lucky enough to spend time with her hours before her death, at nearly 100 years old, feeding her ice cream (a life-time favorite) and bathing in her smiling presence.
